Located on the site of a former gas station/convenience store which required extensive environmental remediation, this 2,900 SF new generation branch bank was designed to be carbon neutral and to produce significant energy savings compared with previous designs. The bank has a double drive-through canopy constructed using solar panels that, along with additional solar panels laminated to the roof of the building, produce almost 25 percent of the bank’s annual energy needs. The building features water saving devices, Lutron EcoSystem daylight harvesting technology, an IAQ management and thermal comfort control system and many other environmentally friendly components. LEED Gold certification was achieved based on the use of a sustainable site, low-water utilization, energy efficiency, use of recycled materials and resources, and indoor environmental air quality management. The bank has a 2-story atrium and consists of cut face block and brick, EIFS and store front window units.
