LEED-Gold-Certification-LogoThe 800,000 SF warehouse was built on 32 acres of former Bethlehem Steel plant property which is a brownfield site. Given nearly 100 years of steel making that occurred at this location, there were many unexpected underground issues encountered in preparing the site that had to be remedied. Some of these included abandoned and buried access tunnels, foundations, steel structures, pipelines and electrical conduits. The 550 feet by 1455 feet building has 32-foot ceilings and tilt-up concrete panel construction with a structural steel frame. The design achieved LEED gold certification and incorporates T-5 HO fluorescent energy efficient lighting with motion sensors. The building will surpass current energy compliance requirements through the use of a thermal system that insulates the exterior envelope. There are 178 loading docks, 256 parking spaces for cars and 210 additional spaces for trailers.
